A SUNLIT STOPOVER. Now based in Ixelles, Paris-bo A SUNLIT STOPOVER.

Now based in Ixelles, Paris-born interior architect Juliette Saier designed Maison Silhouette, the six-suite extension of Hôtel de Silhouette in Biarritz.

Purple fringed velvet, sand-yellow curtains, raffia, brass and silk lamps: a play on contrasts with an almost cinematic feel, echoing the worlds of Jacques Grange, Jacques Garcia and Henri Samuel.

WHERE WOOD MEETS SALT. Belgian designer Igor Loui WHERE WOOD MEETS SALT.

Belgian designer Igor Louis de Kerchove makes tables from two opposite materials: a wooden top, joined to legs of solidified salt. After business studies in Brussels, he trained at the FRESS foundation in Lisbon, then invented a process that turns salt as hard as stone, with the texture of white marble. Wood fears humidity, salt draws it in: joining them is the whole challenge.

"I like tables as objects that bring art and use together. That human dimension of design is what moves me."

AROUND A COFFEE, AROUND A TABLE. A 1991 Range Rov AROUND A COFFEE, AROUND A TABLE.

A 1991 Range Rover turned coffee bar, dinners set in places never meant for them: with @tasse.edition and +table, Julie de Troostembergh and Julien Loriers are rethinking hospitality in Brussels. One brings the brand eye, the other the food expertise. Together they build moments where people slow down and meet, from Port Brussels to Stassart, with chefs like Mallory Gabsi and Julien Sebbag.

"For us, work is a way of life, a passion."
